What We Offer

The Power of Spending Time with a Horse

Spending time with a horse, whether riding or caring for them, can create a powerful shift, both mentally and physically.  “Whenever I am stressed, all I have to do is go ‘be’ with our horses.  Whether I’m mucking their paddocks, brushing them or exercising them, the tensions of the day seem to seep away. Just standing next to them and taking in their aroma, can relax me, and the stress begins to dissipate”, says Deborah Larson, Executive Director of Horses Healing Heroes.

Herd Dynamic Develops Calm, Connections and Relationships

When volunteering or participating in one of Horses Healing Heroes’ programs, spending time with horses brings people in touch with nature and brings a sense of calm and fulfillment. Horses live in herds with a social and familial system much like humans. That herd dynamic takes place with humans as they start to develop a relationship with a horse, a closeness and connection builds and they allow you into their herd.

Our equine-assisted services include one-on-one time with the horses, two-day retreats, all the way to equine-assisted coaching and equine-assisted psychotherapy with our licensed marriage and family therapist.

"We will never have to tell our horse that we are happy, sad, confident, relaxed or angry. He already knows, long before we do."       ~Marjike de Jong
